PART
is a volunteer organization, founded in 1974, comprised of families,
guardians and friends of people with mental retardation. We have no
paid staff and are dedicated to securing, maintaining, and improving
services for Texans with all levels of mental retardation.
PART is a member of the Voice of the Retarded [VOR], a
national organization that supports a complete array of services including
State Schools and Community Care.
PART has no association with any other Texas
advocacy organization for the mentally retarded, and PART does not employ a
lobbyist.
PART considers that each mentally retarded individual is unique with needs that must be met on an individual basis.
PART supports a full array of quality residential services and support options. It also works to ensure that the family's and guardian's choice is respected.
